In foal to AHR Gold Classified 'Alfa of Genesis' for a 2010 foal

September 2009 Update: Ruby's weanling colt, A Fuego of Genesis, won 1st place at the AHR National Show in the weanling stallion class.

“Ruby”, boasts a lineage of National Champions. She is sired by the two-time National Champion, Aristique TOF. Aristique is sired by the gold classified and former National Champion, Aristocrat TOF. On the other side of her pedigree, Ruby’s dam is sired by Austrian import and former National Champion, Nobleman TOF. Ruby’s dam has consistently produced offspring with elegance, type, refinement, and excellent conformation that have all been at the top of their age-groups at many sales.

Ruby was purchased in partnership with AHR youth member, Molly Buis. We had anticipated that this duo would be an integral part of our 2008 show string and that they would also perform at 4-H shows and on Molly’s varsity high school equestrian team as ambassadors for the modern performance haflinger. However, Ruby suffered a traumatic hoof injury that forced her to be scratched from all of her competitions for the entirety of the 2008 season. This also meant that she had to forgo her scheduled 2008 AHR Classification and Inspection.

Ruby’s traumatic hoof injury can be called a ‘hole in the coffin’. Essentially this means that she had a penetrating injury that actually went through her hoof and into her coffin bone. Despite good nursing care, the result of this type of injury is permanent and progressive damage. Therefore, Ruby will not be on any of our future Genesis Farm show strings and will not be sound enough to ever perform for and receive an official AHR inspection score.

Ruby’s only job now is to be a pasture pet and a mother, two roles she has taken in stride. She was bred to our award winning, AHR GOLD classified, imported stallion, ‘Alfa of Genesis’ for a 2009 foal. Ruby waited until Valentine’s Day to deliver her breath-taking colt! This was Alfa’s second foal and he definitely was worth the wait! Ruby’s youth co-owner promptly decided on the name “Afuego of Genesis” (pronounced ahh-fooo-way-go), which means ‘on fire’ in Spanish. Around the barn, he has been dubbed ‘Red Rocket’, based on his agile movement and metallic red color. This colt has already been sold, to the benefit of Molly’s college fund, but he will temporarily stay at Genesis Farm to be a part of our 2009 show string.

At the 2009 AHR National Show, Ruby’s 2009 colt won 1st place in the weanling stallion class.

Ruby has been bred back to our AHR GOLD classified stallion, Alfa of Genesis, for a January 2010 foal. We are keeping our fingers crossed for a filly that will be able to repeatedly make it to the winner’s circle in honor of her dam because Ruby didn’t have the chance to do this for herself. In the meantime, Ruby is enjoying pasture life and just being a horse.
